Panza
For many years the bakery made a sandwich called Runza. It was sauerkraut,
ground beef, onions, and seasonings, and a slice of cheese, wrapped up in a
thin dough and baked. They were quite popular, and in the late 80s other
sandwiches with different meats and fillings were made in the same manner.
This prompted a local Le Mars person to open a restaurant in the Southern
Hills Mall in Sioux City, to sell these sandwiches plus other things like
drinks, fries, muffins, brownies and cookies. The name Runza was changed
to Panza, and although the business did well during certain times of the
year, it was not enough to remain in business.
